Closing the MediaCairn Forum

I regret to inform everyone that I’m closing the MediaCairn Support Forum, indefinitely.

I started MediaCairn over 2 years ago as a creative outlet for web design. At the time, I wasn’t getting to do much original web design at my full-time job, and felt I needed an outlet for all the ideas spinning around in my head. I learned a lot and got to meet some great people along the way.

Over the last year, I’ve found it increasingly difficult to find or make time for MediaCairn. Any free time I do make for MediaCairn is spent trying to keep existing themes up to date, or helping kind folks with support questions in the forum.

The problem, however, is that the stress I’m creating for myself in trying to make everyone happy is affecting my health, my social life and my marriage. I’m constantly telling myself I have “to much to do” to spend quality time with those I love and care about. I have a desire to create new themes, stay on the cutting edge of WordPress and Genesis, and provide the best help I can to those who post in the support forum, but the reality is that I’m unable to make that time, and I’m unable to manage the resulting stress those self-imposed expectations are creating.

The company I work for, SynaVista, is a small company, and I’ve moved into a more design-based role that is feeding my creative bug for web design. I get to design and code custom WordPress websites for clients on a regular basis, along with other marketing materials to help small businesses succeed. As a result, I don’t see the need to stress myself out with MediaCairn at this point in time.

The themes I have created will remain available for download, but I won’t be actively maintaining or supporting them. I encourage folks to download them and use them as a starting point to create something amazing. And if you need help, the Studiopress forums have always been a wealth of information, as is Google.

I’ll be re-tasking this site to focus more on custom website design, for the small handful of things I do outside of my full-time job. For anyone in need of web development and marketing experts, check me (and the rest of the team) out at SynaVista: www.synavista.com.
